Thinking of a fun run from Magnolia Beach out to the island and back. (Approx. 26 miles)

This wouldn’t be an official event, but we could coordinate lunch on the island.

Magnolia Beach has a history of being a great sailing spot for beach cats and the island is a weekend destination for hundreds of people. Figure it might be worth seeing what all the fuss is about.

Any interest is joining?

@secound-line

Magnolia Beach  28.558756, -96.533851

Sunday Beach (Matagorda Island)  28.383025, -96.389630

Sunday beach is a popular spot, but unsure of depths. Especially for those with longer daggerboards. There's a lot of island to chose from though.

It's a natural pass, so I assume it is like San Luis Pass as far as a constantly shifting bottom.

You taking about using the pass or the in shore side?

Any way we slice it I'm in.  I seem to remember the water around the island being fairly shallow for a ways out (several hundred yards)

It might also be cool to go explore the old USCG station while we are out there
